Breast surgery
Breast surgery is a major area of focus, covering both benign breast disease and breast cancer. Patients may be evaluated after mammograms, ultrasounds, MRIs, or biopsies, with the surgeon reviewing results and discussing next steps, additional testing, and treatment options. Conditions treated include fibrocystic change, fibroadenomas, breast cysts, intraductal papillomas, radial scars, usual hyperplasia, atypical hyperplasia, and breast cancer. Breast cancer care often involves coordination with medical oncology, radiation oncology, and plastic surgery. Surgical procedures may include abscess drainage, breast biopsy, lumpectomy, mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and axillary node dissection.
Colorectal surgery
Colorectal surgery focuses on diseases of the colon and rectum, including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, colitis, and colon cancer. Because some colon conditions may not cause symptoms, screening colonoscopy is an important tool for prevention and early detection. Symptoms that may prompt evaluation include abdominal cramping, constipation, diarrhea, appetite loss, nausea, fever, chills, weight loss, and rectal bleeding. Diagnosis may involve physical examination, blood work, CT scan, MRI, colonoscopy, or EGD. When surgery is needed, procedures may be performed using open, laparoscopic, or robotic techniques.
Colonoscopy and endoscopy services
Colonoscopy and endoscopy services help diagnose and treat problems of the digestive system. Colonoscopy allows the surgeon to examine the colon, remove polyps, and biopsy abnormal tissue. EGD evaluates the esophagus, stomach, and upper small intestine and can help identify ulcers, inflammation, malignancies, and bacteria associated with disease.
Surgical oncology
Surgical oncology provides complex cancer surgery in collaboration with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other specialists. Treatment may involve surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, or a combination of approaches. The goal is to help patients and families understand their diagnosis, evaluate options, and move through treatment with coordinated support.
Robotic surgery
Robotic surgery is available through the Da Vinci Xi system, allowing specially trained surgeons to perform complex procedures through small incisions. This minimally invasive approach provides enhanced precision, three-dimensional visualization, and improved instrument control. For many patients, robotic surgery may result in less pain, smaller incisions, and faster recovery compared with traditional open surgery.
General surgery services
General surgery services include repair of acid reflux and diaphragmatic hernias, including laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication for selected patients with GERD. Gallbladder surgery treats gallstones and gallbladder disease through laparoscopic, robotic, or open approaches. Hernia repair addresses abdominal wall defects that may cause bulging, pain, or pressure. Additional services include removal of benign cysts and lipomas, excision of skin cancers, and thyroid or parathyroid surgery for nodules, goiters, hyperthyroidism, thyroid cancer, or hyperparathyroidism.
